I’m dreaming of a white sand beach Christmas…

A question I have been asked time and time again is “what are you doing for your sabbatical?” Basically it falls into three parts:

  1. preparing to travel to the Philippines
  2. travelling in the Philippines
  3. recovering from travelling in the Philippines

But of course there is lots to do before even getting to stage one: my favourite bit, which mainly consists of buying a range of guide books and daydreaming. The fact is, I love researching holidays, whether it is getting out maps and working out journeys; checking out hotel reviews on the net or reading guide books’ recommendations about the best places to visit.

Although I’ve visited the Philippines five or six times before, this looks like it should be the best trip yet. And as the weather in the UK gets colder, greyer and wetter, those coconut palm fringed beaches grow more and more attractive.

I’m allowed to daydream, aren’t I?
