Ode to Joy

Day 2 of the Urban Theology conference and here we are in St Paul’s Hammersmith, otherwise known as that-big-church-next-to-the-Hammersmith-flyover. Day started well; greeted by the strains of ‘Ode to Joy’ playing over the PA at Caledonian Road tube station. However all thoughts of joy soon evaporated after I failed to get on the first four trains, which were absolutely crammed full.

Anyhow, eventually arrived at Hammersmith, no later than everyone else, including the bishop of London, whose sonorous tones are now filling the building with a brief overview of the city.

Curious though that for the second day our opening worship began with that well known urban anthem ‘O Lord my God when I in awesome wonder’…

More later.
